Job Seeking Assistance (JSA)
Job Seeking Assistance (JSA) is recommended when a return to work with the pre-injury employer cannot be sustained. A specialist Vocational and Job Seeking Assistance team (comprised of psychologists and vocational advisors) work with non-job attached individuals to obtain new employment.
Features of the service delivery model include:
- A focus on realistic new employment goals and occupations based on transferable skills.
- A collaborative approach in which both the individual and JSA consultant share responsibility for obtaining new employment.
- Tailored job seeking programs, with a choice between intensive 1:1 support or a ‘Job Club’ environment, to suit the requirements of the individual.
- Partnership with training providers with an employment placement arm to ensure a smooth transition from training to employment.
- Focus on employment opportunities in the individual’s local area.
- Provision of services across a network of serviced office locations, ensuring an understanding local labour market demands in these and surrounding areas.
- Provision of incentive schemes (salary support initiatives, WorkCover insurance coverage, provision of special equipment) to assist both the individual and the new employer.
- Job placements for 13 weeks to ensure return to work in new employment has been successful.
