Initial Rehabilitation Needs Assessment

ResolutionsRTK receives many referrals for Initial Rehabilitation Needs Assessments from employers and agents. The common reasons for referral are:

  • For Early Intervention Case Management of injury.
  • When a return to work process has become stagnant
  • For individuals with complex injury/conditions or when there is an anticipated period of incapacity
  • When there are associated workplace issues which may impact on the return to work program
  • When employers would benefit from guidance of an independent rehabilitation consultant to structure a rehabilitation program and the RTW plan

Each Initial Rehabilitation Needs Assessment is assigned to a consultant, aligning their expertise and experience with the injury/ condition of the individual.

An Initial Rehabilitation Needs Assessment details and assesses the following return to work factors:

  • History of injury/condition
  • Current medical and functional status
  • Current work capacity
  • Work environment
  • Barriers to a return to work

As part of the assessment, the consultants will also liaise with the individual’s treating medical practitioners regarding current medical status and prognosis. Once the assessment is complete, a comprehensive report will detail the specific goals for the individual and strategies that are RTW outcome focused.

Once an Initial Rehabilitation Needs Assessment has been completed, the Case Management process commences.
