Exit Interviews

The exit interview with departing employees is an opportunity to obtain information about what the organisation is doing well, and what the organisation needs to do to improve. This can apply to both employees who voluntarily leave the organisation as well as those whose employment has been terminated for other reasons. Regardless of the circumstances for terminating employment, exit interviews are a rich source of information for organisation insight and improvement.

Exit interviews are commonly performed in person with the departing employee. This enables the individual to feel heard and allows the interviewer to more completely explore and understand the person's views during the exit interview.
